I have recently been commissioned, under the NT Suicide Prevention Trial Site to deliver the Indigenous LGBQTI+ Inclusive Practices in Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Workshop for organisations and departments that work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, aged 15-25 of the Greater Darwin Region. The delivery of the workshop is time critical, as is it connected to the Safer Spaces work I am also undertaking. Apologies for the short notice.

The workshop The Indigenous LGBQTI+ Inclusive Practices in Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Workshop is a full day workforce capability program aimed to increase Indigenous LGBQTI+ access to health and community services. It achieves this by upskilling organisations and individual’s knowledge of the heightened suicide risk, as well as many other social issues, for Indigenous LGBQTI+ people. Participants are assisted in identifying the inherent health risks at the intersection of the dual experiences of being both Indigenous and LGBQTI+ identifying. This includes the social determinants of health specific to Indigenous LGBQTI+ people.
These workshops are a targeted approach to upskilling Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, groups, as well as youth programs and services that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people access.
