Overview

Normal timelines for disputing a penalty notice or screening
If you have been issued an administrative monetary penalty (AMPS) by the City of Vaughan, you have 15 days in order to dispute the penalty; as well, if you have already disputed the penalty through a screening, you have 15 days to dispute the decision of the screening.

How to request additional time to dispute
If there is an extenuating circumstance which prevented you from requesting a dispute within 15 days of the day the ticket was served, then you have an additional 15 days to request an extension to ask for a screening to dispute your ticket.

For example, if a ticket was served on January 1st and you did not request a dispute by January 16th, then you have until January 31st to request an extension to ask for a screening to dispute your ticket. An extension will only be granted if there are extenuating circumstances.

To request more time to dispute a ticket or decision from a screening, you can (1) complete this form or (2) complete the PDF version of this form posted online here at vaughan.ca/bylaw, and submit it by email, mail or in-person at the Client Services counter.

Once you submit this form, a City staff member will follow up with you within 5 business days to confirm whether more time will be given. If you have not heard from the City within 5 business days, please contact us.
