Overview of Take Wing "Tengluni"

What is Take Wing “Tengluni”?

Take Wing “Tengluni” Immersions provide you with the opportunity to explore post-secondary college classes, consider career choices, practice leadership, set goals and develop a pathway to reach them.  As a Take Wing “Tengluni” student, you will receive training in time management, budgeting and healthy and safe choices. Yuuyaraq Lessons are the foundation of the Take Wing “Tengluni” Immersions that will empower you through reflecting on your own identity and culture as you make decisions on your future. Additionally, Take Wing “Tengluni” will provide you with a mentor to help you keep on track to graduate and achieve your goals. All activities will be provided to you virtually using Zoom video or audio conference, or in-person. The in-person participation will be dependent on the current status of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tengluni is partnership between Calista Education and Culture, Inc. and the Alaska Humanities Forum.

When is Take Wing “Tengluni”?


Cohort 3 & 4 Participation Dates

September 2021 – May 2022 – students will participate in 40 virtual Zoom video or audio conference lessons, events and activities and receive monthly mentoring.
Spring 2022 - Potential travel will be dependent on the current status of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Who is eligible to apply?

Take Wing “Tengluni” is open to students who are on track to graduate in May 2022 and have permission from their parent/legal guardian and teacher or principal to participate. Students must have an overall high school 2.0 or higher grade point average.


How do I apply?

We will continue accepting applications online, by email/mail until September 15, 2021.

Incomplete applications will not be considered or reviewed.
Applicants will be notified of their selection on or before September 15, 2021.

In order for your child to participate in Take Wing “Tengluni, we need your consent and your involvement in helping him or her have a productive experience. Please read this application and sign the parental consent form on page 4 in order for us to continue our process of considering your child to be a Take Wing “Tengluni” student.
