Volunteering at Auckland Zoo gives you a unique opportunity to share your interest in wildlife and conservation with zoo visitors. You will meet and work with a wide range of people, and gain an insight into the Zoo's conservation and educational focus.

The name Te Wao Nui can be interpreted as natural, unique habitats and environments in Aotearoa – New Zealand. The goal of the programme is to build understanding and knowledge of New Zealand native fauna and the conservation work undertaken by Auckland Zoo both within the Zoo and in the community and to inform, engage and empower visitors into action.

Te Wao Nui Volunteers work in the New Zealand precinct, engaging with visitors, providing directions, providing impromptu visitor talks and assisting with cleaning and upkeep of the Te Wao Nui visitor areas.
