Executive Board position responsibilities:
- Attend all Executive Board Meetings - typically occur every other week for an hour.
- Attend and participate in the annual induction ceremony in late September/early October (during Family Weekend).
- Attend and co-collaborate on society events.
- Maintain a commitment to 48-hour email response.
- Represent Tau Sigma and Salem State University (SSU) in professional and respectable manner by abiding by the SSU community standards and policies.
- Maintain full-time student status as an undergraduate student.
- Commit to being a student for both the fall and spring semester (i.e. can not be graduating in December).
Open Positions and their descriptions are as followed:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (traditional president role) shall be the official head of the executive board and shall call and chair the meetings of the board/overall chapter; sign and issue all official documents of the chapter; act as the primary liaison with the university, advisor, and other external contacts; represent the chapter at official functions; delegate responsibilities to other officers and members; call special meetings as needed; and oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations; and other duties as determined necessary and appropriate.
DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING (traditional vice-president role) shall assist the president in their duties and fill in for them during absences; coordinate any social, educational, or community service events sponsored or co-sponsored by the chapter; serve as the contact for reserving space on campus and meeting any requirements outlined relevant offices/departments; track event attendance and coordinate feedback to celebrate successes and identify areas for enhancement; and other duties as determined necessary and appropriate.
DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION (traditional secretary/treasurer role) shall oversee the chapter finances including current budget and any fundraising efforts; take minutes at both executive board and chapter meetings; handle official correspondence with members and external organizations; oversee membership scholarship decision process; monitor and make updates to the chapter website; and other duties as determined necessary and appropriate.
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING (traditional public relations officer role) shall manage the chapter’s image and presence by creating/distributing promotional materials and maintaining social media channels by regularly posting relevant information; liaison with other student organizations/honor societies to collaborate on efforts; and other duties as determined necessary and appropriate.
DIRECTOR OF MEMBER DEVELOPMENT shall help the advisor(s) coordinate the annual initiation ceremony including finding speakers; coordinate information tables or other strategies to get word out about the chapter and membership; develop and implement any strategies to motivate/engage members; and other duties as determined necessary and appropriate.
