Welcome to TALC

Thank you for your interest in T.A.L.C. Mentoring. The Adolescent Leadership Council (TALC) of Hasbro Children's Hospital is a program for adolescents with chronic illnesses. T.A.L.C. uses a positive youth development approach to help youth with chronic illness learn how to cope, get support from peers and mentors, become empowered to be independent in the management of their illness, and become leaders in the community.  College age (18+ - graduated from High School) mentors who also have experience with chronic illness (either having an illness themselves or of a family member/close friend) are one of the most important pieces of the program. Mentors are asked to help plan and facilitate monthly meetings, sharing their experiences to empathize and empower the teens through their adolescents. Overall, T.A.L.C. mentors are role models to the teens in the program, and can also meet other college students who are dealing with similar issues.

Please fill out this short application (should not take more than 10 minutes to complete) so the TALC organizers can get a better idea of who you are and why you want to be involved.  You will be hearing from a current TALC member who would be happy to answer any questions.
