Southwest Service Area Master Plan: Comments on Initial Draft Park Concepts
Comments collected through March, 2019
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is creating a new master plan for all neighborhood parks south of I-394 and west of I-35W. The Southwest Service Area Master Plan (SW Parks Plan for short) will consider how parks are designed, operated, maintained, and improved. It will include concept plans for all exterior facilities (ballfields, playgrounds, etc.) for each neighborhood park, but does not include regional parks such as the Chain of Lakes.
MPRB staff and designers have developed two initial draft concepts for each SW park which can be viewed online or at SW Recreation Centers. These initial concepts reflect a year of community input collected at a variety of venues including public events, an online survey, Community Advisory Committee meetings, and neighborhood organization meetings. Design teams also considered research on existing policies and plans, data about the parks and park users, and current innovative design and recreation practices. We're happy to share these with you and look forward to hearing your thoughts!
