The Suzanne and Geoffrey Dawson Scholarship

Belinda Kendall-White established the scholarship in honour of her parents. The scholarship is awarded to a high-achieving student enrolled in the Master of Teaching and pursuing research in the field of education, the outcome of which is likely to enhance the advancement of social justice in educational settings and provide equality of access to improved facilitation of learning, in identified communities. The value of the award is approximately $4000.

The donation memorialises Belinda Anne Kendall-White's parents, Suzanne and Geoffrey Dawson, who placed a premium on education, giving up much in terms of family holidays and creature comfort to ensure their three children received a high quality education. Thanks to their commitment and sacrifice, the donor fell in love with learning and was subsequently lucky to earn scholarships both to MCEGGS (now MGGS) and later to University Women’s College, now University College, as well as a Commonwealth Scholarship. From the donor’s earliest schooldays, through to university career, she was inspired by many teachers and educators who were clearly passionate about their profession. In funding this scholarship in the memory of two very special people in her life, the donor hopes in some small way to enable aspiring teachers to follow their dreams and to inspire the students with whom they come in contact.
