As you may know, Department of Health Care Services has been in the process of aligning use of the CANS tool across the specialty mental health and child welfare systems. They are taking a phased approach toward the long-term goal of “one kid, one CANS”, and toward that end, are preparing to move to the TCOM CA IP-CANS (IP-CANS) to replace the CANS-50. The type and number of staff able to deliver the IP-CANS will expand to include non-clinicians, as is current practice in child welfare. DHCS will be supporting counties with costs associated with this transition and has requested the following information.
