WELCOME TO THE QUEENS STOOP INDEX COMMUNITY SURVEY

The Queens Stoop Index measures resilience across Queens neighborhoods. We call it the Stoop Index because just like neighbors talking on a stoop, this index combines the opinions, values, and life experience of people in Queens. By finding where all those voices agree, it turns neighborhood conversations into a shared agreement on how prepared, safe, and strong we are.

We define resilience as the capacity of a neighborhood to prepare for, withstand, and adapt to disasters. It means minimizing harm, recovering quickly, and keeping systems running after a crisis, all while adapting to changing risks over time. Different assets, strengths, and weaknesses make up a neighborhood’s overall resilience. We break resilience down into six distinct categories: Finance, Environment & Climate Change, Buildings, Relationship with Government, Community, & Vital Resources.

What to Expect
In this survey, you will compare these categories based on your experience living, working, learning, or spending time in Queens. Instead of ranking all six at once, you will evaluate 15 pairs of domains, one at a time. You will have an opportunity to review a summary of your responses before you submit the survey.

Time: This survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Privacy: Your responses are anonymous.
Impact: Your responses will directly inform the Queens Stoop Index, a tool developed to measure neighborhood strengths, gaps, and priorities.
