2025 Transit Fare Review

Introduction

Why We Are Doing This Work
Transit is more than a transportation option: it connects our community, supports our economy, and provides access to jobs, education, and essential services. Saskatoon Transit and other transit agencies across North America are investigating ways to improve ridership, enhance service and adopt new technologies to modernize how fares are structured, while balancing revenue needs with affordability concerns.

What We Are Asking
The City of Saskatoon is seeking input on important priorities to help redesign a transit fare structure and wants to hear from all residents, community groups and businesses. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the survey, whether you use transit or not. This is your chance to share your perspectives and preferences as we design a new fare structure!

Saskatoon community members are invited to provide their feedback through our online survey. The survey will be available until November 4, 2025 and takes roughly 8 minutes to complete. The survey is divided into three sections:
  1. Current transit fares
  2. Potential ways that fares can be adjusted
  3. About you
Please note that the survey does not cover:
  • Specific fare prices and the size of any potential increase or decrease to them.
  • Contract based fares such as the UPass or the employer EcoPass program. These will be reviewed in the future.
How Your Feedback Will Be Used
A Comprehensive Transit Fare Review Information Report was presented at the October 7, 2025 Standing Policy Committee on Transportation. The report identified that the Administration would engage the public and stakeholders with the goal to obtain feedback on potential ways to adjust Saskatoon Transit fares.

A summary of findings of this survey and other engagement results will be incorporated into a Decision Report that evaluates various transit fare options for the 2026-2027 budget deliberations scheduled for November 25-27, 2025.
