1. Introduction to the State Youth Activation Committee

Welcome to the new Special Olympics Arizona State Youth Activation Committee application!

A State Youth Activation Committee (State YAC) is an inclusive group of student leaders with and without intellectual disabilities who work together to plan activities and serve as advocates for Unified Champion Schools®. State YAC is formed at the state level, while all other inclusive youth leadership opportunities are at an area and school level. This application is for the State YAC only.

What are the responsibilities of a State YAC member?

- Attend scheduled meetings via conference call every month and in-person meetings every six months
- Attend at least 3 Inclusive Youth Leadership Events annually (i.e. State Leadership Conference, Youth Summit, Youth Trainings and additional Inclusive Youth Leadership opportunities, as scheduled)
- Serve as an ambassador for Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools®
- Use knowledge developed through the State YAC to lead inclusive youth activation programs and events at your school and surrounding communities
- Assist with State YAC projects, social media campaigns, whole school engagement activities, and FUNdraisers
- Commit to lead at least 1 FUNdraiser at your school to support the Unified Program on your campus
- Share ideas for new inclusive events and activities (We love to run with your ideas!)
- Represent Special Olympics inclusive Youth Leaders by serving on other organization committees and boards
