The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is seeking applicants to serve on the Sustainable Transportation Advisory Council (STAC) from March 2022–December 2023. The STAC advises MnDOT and provides the agency with recommendations for reducing carbon pollution from transportation that are consistent with statutory goals for energy and emissions reductions. STAC efforts prioritize recommendations that improve safety, reduce inequities, and support economic development.

STAC members are appointed by the MnDOT Commissioner to provide recommendations to the agency that support the STAC goals, including through development of annual recommendations. Members serve a two-year term and can serve consecutive terms at the discretion of the MnDOT Commissioner. Members are expected to attend at least 80% of the bi-monthly STAC meetings(approx. 6 per year). Members are also encouraged to participate in a work group, which will typically meet monthly. Refer to the STAC webpage and STAC Charter for more information about membership purpose, scope, and activities.

If for any reason you are unable to complete this application form, please contact us at sustainability.dot@state.mn.us to schedule a phone or virtual interview. Translation services are available upon request.

Applications are due by midnight on Oct. 29, 2021. Selected applicants will be notified in December 2021. The first official STAC meeting of 2022–2023 STAC membership is expected in March 2022 and MnDOT staff will coordinate with all members to schedule.

STAC meetings are open to the public. MnDOT encourages all applicants to consider joining the virtual STAC meeting on December 15, 2021, from 10:30 am–12 pm, when 2021 STAC recommendations will be presented to MnDOT.
Some of the information requested below may be protected from disclosure under Minnesota law. Although you are not legally required to provide any information, we require responses to questions 1-9 to process your application. Applicants will not be penalized for declining to respond to these questions nor are there any consequences for choosing to respond. By answering, however, you will help MnDOT with recruiting a diverse applicant pool.
