What does Baltimore smell like? How would you describe the smell of your own neighborhood to someone who had never been there?

This survey asks you to consider Baltimore as a “scent-scape” - in essence, a city of many scents! Below you will find all of Baltimore's many neighborhoods consolidated into nine geographic regions. Start by finding your neighborhood within its region and describing the smells you encounter there on a daily basis. Then feel free to describe as many other neighborhood regions as you can. No need to answer every single one - just describe those that are the easiest and most familiar to you!

Here's the cool part: your responses will be used by a contemporary artist named Brian Goeltzenleuchter, who will create 10 new fragrances that describe Baltimore for a living artwork that will be on display at The Walters Art Museum.

Check out this project the artist did in California for an idea of what the final product will look like here.

Make sure to come to the Walters on Sunday, December 4th to see how your participation on this survey helped to create a collaborative artwork! Sample the fragrances of each neighborhood and smell how they all come together to represent our city.
