Time Commitment and Expectations

We're aware that early September is a very busy time for religious professionals. While this training remains 6 weeks long, this year we're trying something different with the schedule: we'll take a break in the middle (with quick weekly check-in questions to keep your mind on interim concepts).

Week 1 of the training will begin in mid-August. After week 2, we'll let you focus on your congregational work for a few weeks. Then we'll resume in mid-September and finish in early October.

Webinars are at the beginning of Week 1 and Week 6. These will take place EITHER on Sundays, August 13 and October 8, OR on Mondays, August 14 and October 9, from 7:00 to 8:45 pm Eastern Time. Please reserve all of these dates until we can determine which will work best for the group. There's a question below about which days work for you. If sufficient interest exists, we will run two sections (one with Sunday webinars and one with  Monday webinars).

Participants will:
  • Need to purchase (or borrow) the book In the Interim, 2nd edition.
  • Have reading (and sometimes videos) and written assignments each week.
  • Post reflections and responses to an online platform, with two deadlines each week.
  • Work with a small group on a case study project. On the final webinar, your group will make a short presentation based on your project.
  • Plan on a time commitment of 3 to 5 hours per week over the 6 weeks. If you get a lot of the reading done ahead of time, you should be able to come in toward the low end. (Warning: The subject matter is fascinating and compelling! Some participants spend more time with it because they want to!)

Withdrawals

Up-front planning for each participant goes into this training, including setting everyone up on the online platform and creating small groups. Withdrawals close to the start of the program, or after it begins, are problematic. For this reason, we have instituted a withdrawal policy:

- Withdrawal up to 8 days before start of program: full refund
- Withdrawal within the last 7 days before start of program: 50% refund
- Withdrawal in first 7 days of program: 25% refund
- Withdrawal after first 7 days of program: no refund

Exceptions will be made for such situations as health and family emergencies.
