Informed Consent

Title: Sexual Minority Men’s Experiences, Stress, and Sexual Behaviors
Principal Investigator: Greg Brack, Ph.D.
Principal Student Investigator: Laurel Watson, M.S. and Franco Dispenza, M.S.

I. Purpose:

You are invited to take part in a research study. The purpose of the study is to understand sexual
behaviors among sexual minority men. You are invited to take part because you are at least 18
years old and a sexual minority male. A total of 450 participants will take part in this study. This
study will require 30 minutes of your time over one period.

II. Procedures:

If you decide to take part, you will be asked to complete one online survey. The survey will take
about 30 minutes to complete. Because this is an online survey you may take it at any time. You
will be asked to complete an on-line survey that asks about your experiences, stress, and sexual
behavior.

III. Risks:

There is a chance that being in this study may cause you mild discomfort. If you become
upset at any point, you may choose to quit this study. When you finish or quit the survey
you will be given a list of counseling and health referrals.

IV. Benefits:

Being in this study may benefit you. You may learn about your behavior and experiences. We hope
to gain understanding of how social experiences may affect sexual minority men’s sexual
behaviors.

V. Voluntary Participation and Withdrawal:

Being in this study is voluntary. You do not have to be in this study. If you decide to be in the
study and change your mind, you have the right to drop out at any time. You may skip
questions or stop at any time. Whatever you decide, you will not lose any benefits to which you
are otherwise entitled.
