Thank you for expressing interest in attending a CIMS4 course.

New Zealand’s Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) establishes a framework of consistent principles, structures, functions, processes and terminology that agencies can apply in an emergency response. First introduced in 1998, CIMS has significantly enhanced the coordinated response capability in New Zealand, particularly at the incident level.

The CIMS structure is applied to all multi-agency and ongoing incidents that SLSNR is involved in, therefore a good understanding of the CIMS structure is critical for effective incident management.

Students who complete this course are able to describe the interrelated functions of the coordinated incident management system (CIMS) model, the incident controller’s responsibilities at an incident, and the role and function of the operations manager, the planning/intelligence manager, and the logistics manager at an incident.

This course is run in conjunction with NZ Police and Tai Poutini Polytechnic. Course fees will be covered for current members that meet entry requirements, however there will be a charge to those members with confirmed bookings that do not attend the course. Additionally, Clubs will be asked to endorse all applications.
