About this self-assessment tool

This self-assessment tool has been designed by the Community Services Industry Alliance (CSIA) to help organisations that may or may not be related to the disability sector to think about opportunities for improving inclusion of people with disability into the community and mainstream services.

In particular, it aims to support organisations to be ready to identify and to take advantage of business opportunities that will arise within the NDIS through the new Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grants. Both ‘Queensland ILC Jurisdictional Based grants’ and ‘National Readiness grants’ application documents are expected to be released in the second half of 2018. Projects that are successful in obtaining a grant will commence from 1 July 2019. Further grant rounds are also likely to be available at a later date.

The tool contains many links to information and resources that might help you in your thinking and planning around inclusion and potential ILC grants.

Working through the questions in this tool will also help you and your organisation to:
  • think about what inclusion might look like in your area of work and how you might help to increase inclusion of people with a disability
  • be more prepared to put together an application for the ILC grants, or to identify whether there may be alternative ways of delivering an inclusion project
  • give your project idea and your grant application the best chance of being successful
  • find the information and support that you might need to put together a project plan and/or application.
If you have a great idea for a project but need help in some way, the online community Inclusion Ready Online is there for you to ask questions, look for other who might work or partner with you, and find other resources that might help you.

These topics will be explored through sections 3-5 of the following:
  1. What is the ILC and how might it be relevant?
  2. Do I have a project idea that aligns with the ILC intent?
  3. Do I have evidence to support the project need and a plan to demonstrate expected outcomes?
  4. Do I have a plan and resources to develop the idea and implement the project?
  5. Am I ready to put together an ILC grant application?
