School Access Travel Plan

The City of Hobart, in partnership with the Department of State Growth and Department of Education, have identified the importance of:
  • Ensuring the safety of all students when arriving to / leaving a school campus,
  • Encouraging walking, cycling and using public transport to travel to and from school, and
  • Educating parents and teachers on rules and arrangements to improve general safety around a school campus.
To highlight existing risks and safety issues surrounding student travel trends to and from school, the City of Hobart is encouraging schools to develop a School Access Travel Plan with the assistance of a qualified traffic engineer.

With knowledge of the travel safety issues surrounding a school, solutions to alleviate these risks can be recommended and submitted by City of Hobart to State Growth as part of the Vulnerable Road User Program.
