Centropa Seminar Registration

Dear Teachers,

We're pleased to present a Centropa workshop for teachers in South Carolina and surrounding areas, 16-18 February, in Columbia, SC, at the University of South Carolina, and co-sponsored by the South Carolina Council on the Social Studies.

Immerse yourself in 20th century European Jewish history, digital storytelling, Holocaust education, and conversations about how to make your students globally literate, civic minded critical thinkers. After this seminar, you will return to your classes with a lesson that fits into your curriculum, along with a wide range resources for teaching history, civics, social studies, art, ELA, foreign language (Spanish), photography, film, and technology. You'll hear about cross-cultural projects between US and European schools, creative pedagogies using the latest technologies, and student-directed projects that meet state and Common Core standards.

Schedule:
Friday, Feb 16:
6-9 pm, Tree of Life Congregation - we begin with a traditional Jewish Friday night service and dinner
Saturday, Feb 17:
8:30-5 pm, seminar at University of South Carolina
Sunday, February 18:
  8:30am-3:00pm, seminar sessions at USC

Cost: $25.
Hotel: for anyone attending from more than 50 miles away, we will cover the hotel room for two nights, as well as breakfasts and lunches. Friday night dinner is part of the program, and participants will have an opportunity to explore Columbia and spend an evening together.
