Support Coordination Core Competencies Call for Feedback: We Need to Hear from You!

Overview: The Division is partnering with stakeholders to review the state support coordination system for any needed enhancements to assist with the provision of quality support coordination. In response to the HCBS Rule, this review will look at the knowledge, skills and standards for person centered planning that promotes a good life for people with developmental disabilities.  The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) contracted with UMKC-Institute for Human Development, UCEDD to facilitate this process and collect feedback from an array of stakeholders, including a project advisory group, to guide final recommendations.  Members include representatives from DDD, MACDDS, MARF and the DD Council.

The following section provides an overview of the project phases and the anticipated outcomes:
  • Phase 1: Draft Performance Standards. ·         Over the last 8 months, the statewide group has met to draft the performance standards.  This draft builds on the work of the Missouri Support Coordinator Capacity Building Initiative, Your Voice in Missouri Redesign, and literature highlighting best practices around the nation.
  • Phase 2: Collect Feedback from Statewide Stakeholders. Throughout this phase, UMKC will collect feedback on the Missouri Support Coordination Core Competencies. Over the next three months, stakeholders can provide feedback online and in person to inform the final version. (CURRENT PHASE)
  • Phase 3: Finalize Competencies and Develop Training Clearinghouse. ·         In the spring of 2018, the final version of the Missouri Support Coordination Core Competencies will be distributed to stakeholders to guide and inform their practices as they relate to support coordination.  UMKC will develop an online clearinghouse to house collected training resources organized by competencies.
  • Phase 4: Next Steps for Informing Practice.  ·         UMKC will continue working with DDD and advisory group to identify how to use tools and resources to enhance and inform support coordination practices.  The advisory group will meet annually to review how well it is working and make any needed changes.
