Tine Test: PA State Law requires all volunteers be tested for tuberculosis. If you need this test, it is available from the school nurse free of charge in October. You only need to receive this once during your volunteer years while in the Souderton Area School District.Please check one below: YES I need one I have had a Tine test in the Souderton Area School District I have had a Tine test and can show documentation of it. * 7. Listed below are areas where volunteers are needed. Please indicate the areas that you would be interested in helping out by checking the appropriate boxes. Classroom Volunteer - Duties are determined by the needs of individual teachers. They may include copying, preparing materials for instruction, filing, setting up displays, assisting with academic tasks and essential services. Homeroom Parent - Assist with the planning and hosting of holiday socials. (Fall, Winter, Valentines) **PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL ALSO BE A GENERAL SIGN-UP IN THE CLASSROOMS ON BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT. PLEASE FILL OUT BOTH FORMS (Hands and classroom sign-up). Library Assistant - Assist the librarian in tasks such as cataloging, shelving books and signing books out to students. Book Fair - Help set-up, take down and/or assist students with finding books during the fair. I can help with the October Book Fair. I can help with the Book Fair on May 10, 2018. Video Literacy Program - Each student is videotaped during every academic year to chronicle his/her literacy growth. Volunteers briefly interview students and have them read a particular book while videotaping them. (Taping is throughout the year so you can pick a certain time to help video or help at home with making the DVD’s for the 5th graders). *Parts can be done at home. I can come into school to help tape the students. I can help download student files and label them. I can help make the 5th grade student videos. Sundae Bar - Assemble ice cream sundaes for the students during lunch periods. Only four times per school year (fall, winter, spring, summer). Memorial Garden - Help to maintain the memorial garden at the main entrance (2 times a year). *Done outside of school hours Family Movie Night ( November 10, 2017) - Help is needed to set-up and/or clean up. Bingo Night (March 2, 2018) - Help is needed to set-up and clean-up, oversee the food table, be a bingo checker, be a bingo caller or help with the prize table. Lip Sync (March 23, 2018) - Help is needed for check-in, parent chaperone for the participants, set-up and clean-up. Ice Cream Social (June 1, 2018) - Help is needed to serve ice cream and toppings, as well as set-up and clean-up. Holiday Gift Shop (November 30, December 1, 2017) - Help is needed to inventory merchandise, help student shoppers select gift items, and pack merchandise to return to vendor. 5th Grade Memory Book - A compilation of photographs reflecting the school activities of the fifth grade class throughout their time at Salford Hills. Volunteers are needed to collect, organize, and arrange photos and to oversee the book being completed. If you have a child in 5th grade you may want to join this committee. *Most of the work done January to March & can be done at home. Publishing Center - Various roles in the process of turning original student compositions into hardbound editions. Parents needed to type, prepare materials for binding, and bind these original keepsakes. *Most of this work can be done at home. I can help type for the Publishing Center I can help put the books together for Publishing Center Hospitality/Baking - Help needed periodically to prepare baked goods and/or snacks for special recognition days. Bulletin Boards - Assist staff in changing bulletin boards throughout the school year. R.I.F. Reading is Fun - This is when your child(ren) receives free books. Help is needed in assisting the children in picking out their book. This takes place two times per school year. C.R.O.P.S. Vegetable Garden - Volunteers will assist the Salford Hills Green Team (a committee of teachers) with organizing activities related to the garden's harvest, our annual Earth Day celebration, and families' & classrooms' time in our garden. Race for Education (October) - Help is needed in a variety of ways starting in September & October. This includes helping students write mailers, folding and stamping mailers, record-keeping, reward/prize allocating and volunteering on the actual RACE day (Thursday, October 19, 2017). This will be our primary fundraiser for the year. Prime Time Reading 3-5 grade (October 27, 2017) - Help is needed for the planning committee that meets periodically before the event. Volunteers are needed for 2-3 hours the night of the event to help as chaperones, game coordinators and for set-up, sign-in and clean-up. Prime Time Reading K-2 grade (February 9, 2018) - Help is needed for the planning committee that meets periodically before the event. Volunteers are needed for 2-3 hours the night of the event to help as chaperones, game coordinators and for set-up, sign-in and clean-up. Box Tops Helper - Help count and trim Box Top clippings in January. This work can be done from home. Can help with at home projects. I can help with something else: THANK YOU for volunteering!
