Resiliency Summit 2018: Call for Presenters

Ever Active Schools invites you to submit a proposal to present at Resiliency Summit 2018. We aren't just looking for "experts"; we want people with stories and experiences to share! School teams, educators, parents, researchers, and community builders are all encouraged to present. If you haven't presented at a conference before, don't worry - we can help every step of the way.

The conference will take place in Calgary at WinSport Winter Sport Institute (Canada Olympic Park) on November 28-29 , 2018.

We are seeking presentations that will help students, educators and researchers develop wellness and resiliency through:
1. Arts (Visual, dance, song, spoken word, other)
2. Lessons from Elders or Knowledge Keepers
3. Winter Sports (including outdoor traditional games)
4. Student Leadership and Mentorship
5. Indoor Physical Activity (including indoor traditional games)

We are looking for those who are able to bring audience participation and activity to their presentations.

Ever Active Schools is committed to equity in its policies, practices, and programs, while supporting diversity in its community, school, and work environments. Ever Active Schools encourages participation by everyone, peoples of all backgrounds and abilities. However, in the spirit of celebrating the successes, strategies, teachings and stories of Indigenous school communities, we prioritize submissions from Indigenous presenters.

To come up with ideas, ask yourself/your school team:
-What are we doing at our school that is inventive, community-building, fostering a sense of belonging in students?
-What are we most proud of at our school?
-What have we struggled with and learned from that other schools could benefit hearing about?

We have a select number of concurrent session held for commercial sessions. Through these sessions conference attendees have the opportunity to become acquainted with your company and products. These sessions are an excellent opportunity for companies to showcase their products, resources and expertise. If your commercial session is selected, there will be a $250 session fee. Funds generated through this will be shared between Jumpstart and Kidsport to increase opportunities for children and youth to be involved with sport and physical activity.

All applications to present must be submitted online by September 14, 2018. All applicants will be notified of the status of their application no later than September 30, 2018.

Please note: Applicants who are selected to present will receive an honorarium, but are required to cover their own registration, travel and hotels. We suggest pre-booking your hotel room as they fill up quickly.
