Rochester Boundary Process Feedback Survey
On November 5, 2019, the voters of the District approved a comprehensive building bond in the amount of $180.9 million. Funds are being used to construct:
a new northwest elementary school located at 2300 Overland Drive NW;
a new northwest middle school located at 5501 65th Street NW;
a new Bishop Elementary School at 406 36th Avenue NW; and
a new Longfellow Elementary School, moving it from 1615 Marion Road SE to a new location on 20th Street SE.
As part of this three-year construction process, boundaries need to be adjusted to balance capacity of our District with the additional new schools. The boundary adjustments will become effective for the start of school in the 2022-2023 school year. The Superintendent recommends the School Board approve the boundary adjustments no later than September 2021 so families have approximately one-year to adjust as necessary.
This survey is intended to collect feedback around guiding principles that will be used to develop boundary options. All community members will have the opportunity to provide feedback on boundary options after they are developed and finalized by the boundary advisory committee. If you would like to participate on the boundary advisory committee, please complete

1.
Please select the top four (4) guiding principles that are most important to you.
(Required.)
Attempt to create boundaries that are contiguous (one piece, without detached portions).
Attempt to create boundaries that prepare the District to grow with minimal future boundary changes.
Attempt to align boundaries to existing geographic features (rivers, roads, railroads, existing boundaries).
Attempt to create boundaries that maximize walkability and minimize busing.
Attempt to create boundaries that balance enrollment among schools equitably (schools with higher needs may have lower enrollment relative to capacity).
Attempt to create boundaries that reflect the demographics (socio-economics and diversity) of the District as a whole.
Attempt to create boundaries that assign students to their closest school.
Attempt to create boundaries that align feeder patterns (example: one elementary school feeds into one middle school).
