Our awards are independent and free to enter for both IIRSM members and non-members. You may enter more than one category but must complete a separate form for each.

How to enter
When entering or nominating for an award, please note that for all entries, at least part of the project or its impact must have taken place between May 2025 and Feb 2026.

The application is broken down into the following sections:
  • why you or your nominee are eligible for the award
  • how you/your nominee meet/s the criteria for the award
You can then upload supporting evidence (photographs, images, graphs, videos, presentations etc) along with your references.

You can apply for yourself or nominate a colleague/employee/team or organisation. To apply for more than one award please start a new form for each one.

The deadline for entries is 3 February 2026 at 4pm. Applications will then be sent to our team of judges for scoring. Each award category has its own team of judges who read, assess and score independently. Average scores are then calculated for each category and ranked. The highest ranking application wins that award category. In the event of a tie the applications are sent to an adjudication judging panel for a final decision.

For Presidents' Commendation nominations, a shortlist will be presented to the IIRSM Council with the supporting statements. The Council will choose a winner who will be invited to attend the IIRSM Awards to collect the award.
What makes a good application?
Judges appreciate applications which are clearly matched to the awards category criteria and those which have had a measurable impact. Good applications demonstrate achievements with clear evidence that strengthens the application.

Top tips for a tip top application!
1. Select the award category that best matches your/your nominee's strengths. If there are multiple then enter multiple!
2. Review the entry criteria and make sure you can clearly explain why you/your nominee should win.
3. Back up your claims with supporting documents, case studies, reports, and testimonials. Ensure that these documents are well-organised and easy for reviewers to understand.
4. Gather all the evidence and data that shows the impact of the work carried out before you start your entry.
5. Pay attention to the word limit.
6. Take time to apply – a quick or rushed application will not be as good as one you take time over.
7. Fill in every section of the application form.
8. Proof-read your application and seek feedback from peers or mentors in the risk management field. They can provide valuable insights and suggestions for improvement.
9. Pick your supporting referee carefully, they should know about the impact the work has had.
10. Submit your entry on time and as fully as possible - incomplete entries will not be considered so it's important that you click submit when you have completed your application.
