Review of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body Act 2008 |
Introduction
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body Act 2008 was presented to the ACT Legislative Assembly on 14 May 2008, and has been operational for over six years. The ACT Government and the Elected Body consider it time to review the Act to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
The ACT Government has engaged an independent consultant to undertake a review of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body 2008. The Elected Body provides a key strategic role in providing advice to the ACT Government on matters of importance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Submissions are invited from interested members of the ACT community in response to the Issues Paper.
Further information on the review and a copy of the Issues Paper can be found at the ACT Government’s Time to Talk Portal and the ACT Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs website
