ANS-SR June 2020 Virtual Meeting

The ANS SR Section will host our 2nd Lunchtime Webinar presentation!

Date and Time: Friday, June 12, 2020, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Presentation: This discussion will consist of the background and status for the SHINE facility and planning for isotope production in the U.S. and internationally.

Presenter: ANS-SR welcomes Dr. Greg Piefer to its second Virtual Lunch and Learn event. Dr. Piefer is the founder and CEO of SHINE Medical Technologies, located in Janesville, Wisconsin. The isotope production facility that SHINE is building in Janesville, Wisconsin, will use a patented, proprietary manufacturing process to produce medical isotopes such as ⁹⁹Mo (Mo-99), the essential component in medical imaging procedures used to diagnose heart disease and other conditions, and to stage cancer. The SHINE technology offers major advantages over other production technologies because it does not require a nuclear reactor, uses less electricity, and generates less waste.

Cost: Donation to ANS Savannah River "Richard Benjamin Scholarship Fund" or other charity of your choice (Honor System). Your check designating the scholarship fund can be mailed to: ANS Savannah River, P.O. Box 7001, Aiken, SC 29804

Optional: Box lunches at $20 apiece are available at 11:00AM from Newberry Hall. See the attached menu for lunch choices. There will be ANS SR representatives at the front of Newberry Hall to hand you your box lunch. In order to keep us all safe, you will be invoiced for your boxed lunch(es) at a later time.
