Introduction and Personal Information
Hi there! Welcome to the first annual Portland DSA Membership Census! This is an opportunity for us to take the pulse of our membership, and understand who you are, what you work on, and what you would like to work on.

Everyone who takes the survey will be entered into a randomized drawing to win a signed copy (by Bhaskar Sunkara) of the The Socialist Manifesto: The Case for Radical Politics in an Era of Extreme Inequality. We will also collect some other goodies (e.g., lefty books) to give out in the drawing, so please help us out!

The goals of this effort are:
- Understand our membership. We have over 1,200 members current in their membership dues, and an additional 400 people whose dues have lapsed. Less than one third of dues-current members are actively engaged in working groups, campaigns, and caucuses. A smaller proportion typically attends General Meetings. We want to understand the demographics, participation patterns, and priorities of all of our membership, including those whose voices we don't often hear or have yet to hear.
- Mobilize our membership. This census offers a chance for every single member to engage with the Membership Working Group and Portland DSA leadership, and for us to engage with every single member. We want to build our internal capacity by identifying people who are not yet involved or have not yet found work they would like to plug into.
We are going to use this as opportunity to attempt to engage with every single member, so if you would like to help us turn out respondents by texting, phone-banking, and canvassing, contact Bryan Blanc (@BryanBlanc on Slack or bryanpblanc@gmail.com) or join the #field-organizing-team Slack channel.
