This survey has been sent to all FICPI members on behalf of the Practice Management Committee.
Background

The Technology Group of PMC within FICPI is tasked with monitoring technological developments that affect the practice of intellectual property law and the operation of IP firms and help FICPI members in providing useful information for their practice.

Rapid developments in areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, knowledge management systems, and digital workflows are increasingly influencing how IP professionals conduct their work, manage information, and deliver services to clients. At the same time, firms face practical challenges related to confidentiality, implementation costs, internal policies, and integration with existing systems.

The purpose of this short survey is to gather input from FICPI members regarding:
  • technology-related topics that would benefit from further study within PMC Group 2;
  • the level of relevance of technology and AI tools for member firms;
  • practical challenges encountered when adopting new technologies; and
  • the types of practical outputs that would be most useful for FICPI members.
The results will guide the Group’s work programme and may form the basis for future studies, practical guidance, and knowledge-sharing initiatives within FICPI.
