Dear Parents:

I am delighted to serve as the High Point Parent Auxiliary Chair this year. As such, I am responsible for coordinating parent volunteers for the many events that High Point enjoys. My family has been a part of the High Point community for 13 years. My husband and I have two children who are graduates of High Point and a daughter who is in 4th grade. Volunteering at High Point has enriched my family’s experience at our school. We have made so many wonderful friends who will be a part of our lives for years to come.

I welcome and encourage your involvement at High Point. Our school has many events to fit your niche. If your schedule permits you to spend time on campus during the school day, High Point has many opportunities during art, library, lunch, and sporting events. If you love planning special events, have a flair for decor, like to fundraise, have technical expertise, etc., High Point needs your help. While art and library times will be coordinated by individual room parents, other events are covered on the attached survey. One area that will require an enthusiastic group of parents is our 50th Anniversary Golden Gala. Please check that box if you would like to be part of the committee.

Volunteers are needed to help with coordination, publicity, setup, and sales.

Book Fair - Dad's Breakfast - March 17, 2016 Chairs: Jolie Solomon and Cyndi Bonaccorso
Held during Book Fair week, volunteers are needed to assist with setup, serving, and cleanup.

No-Cost Fundraisers (e-scrip, etc.) Chairs: Taylor Storti and Roshanak (Roshi) Shafiiha
Volunteers are needed to assist with this program.

Staff Appreciation Luncheon - May 13, 2016 Chairs: Arda Deramerian and Deniece Hall
Volunteers are needed to help plan lunch for our faculty and staff the day after Open House.

Used Uniform Sale - September 11, 2015 & 1 day in the spring TBD Chairs: Sharon Lin and Mimi Ha
Held twice a year, volunteers are needed to promote, sort, and sell the used uniforms.

Can you trace your family heritage to Asia, Europe, South America, Pacific Islands or...? Share your family’s culture with High Point students and staff!

50th Anniversary Gala - April 30, 2016
During the 2015-2016 school year High Point Academy will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary, an incredible milestone in the school's history. This year's gala will be held at the beautiful Langham Huntington Hotel, Pasadena. We will need help with all aspects of this event from set up, to running the auction, to cleaning up after the event.

Family Dinner Night - November 5, 2015 Chairs: Krysty Leckrone and Pam Rosenberg
Volunteers are needed for planning, publicity, decorations, setup, and cleanup.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day (Not held until next fall, November 2016)
Volunteers are needed to assist the Development Office in organizing Grandparents' Day. Assistance is needed to coordinate refreshments, decorations, setup and cleanup, as well as guest check-in. Held every other year. The next Grandparents' Day is scheduled for the Fall of 2016.

Volunteers are needed to organize morning refreshments for parents on the first day of school.

Back-to-School Nights - September 15, 16 and 17, 2015 Chair: Bing Li
Volunteers are needed to set up, oversee, and clean up refreshments at Back-to-School Nights.

Open House - May 12, 2016
Volunteers are needed to set up, oversee, and clean up.

HPA Cares Chair: Frances Mena
Volunteers are needed to assist High Point families in special need.

Kindergarten Screening Volunteers Chairs: Michelle Gomez-Novy and Armine Bekian
Volunteers are needed to serve as hosts for prospective kindergarten students and parents during the Kindergarten Screening Process held in January and February.

Choice Lunch Program - Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri from 11:15 am to 1:00 pm
Lunch credits are earned for your child when you work this program.
Volunteers needed to serve Choice Lunch everyday.

Thursday Hot Lunch Program (If you choose this please answer Question 8 to note your preference.)
Volunteers are needed to serve lunch to the children on Thursdays with a rotation of pizza, chicken, burgers, and tacos.

Each year volunteers are needed to maintain ongoing programs and support green initiatives.

Volunteers are needed to assist the chair in returning items left in the Lost & Found.

Car pool and Snack Coordinator for Away Games. (See Athletic Calendar)
Volunteers are needed to assist in these areas for junior high sports.

Eagles Nest
The High Point student store raises funds for the junior high and the athletic department. Volunteers are needed to assist with selling of items (1 to 1 1/2 hour shifts). The Eagles Nest is usually open during the lunch hour on non-uniform days and during home games.

Sports Banquet - May 19, 2016
Volunteers are needed to help with the annual Sports Banquet.

Sixth-grade Tournament Coordinator
Volunteers are needed to organize snacks, permission slips, and car-pooling for the sixth grade tournament.

Volunteers are needed to host the grade-level parties in their home. Parties are held during the first quarter of the school year for all parents of a grade level.

Room Parents
Room Parents coordinate volunteers for class functions, and serve as liaisons between the teacher and parents in the classroom.

Seventh-Grade Parent Graduation Assistants
Parents of seventh-grade students assist with eighth-grade graduation refreshments in the morning and coordinate seventh-grade parent chaperones for the eighth-grade party that evening.
