The Farm to School Work Group is an active subgroup of the Food Policy Council of San Antonio. We are tasked to determine if there is an interest in Bexar County and San Antonio school districts—by both growers and consumers—to develop a program to ensure the use of locally-grown produce into our schools.

“Farm to School” is a movement that helps schools connect with local farmers to bring locally produced foods into the cafeterias; in addition, there are hands-on learning activities such as farm visits, producers’ visits to schools, school gardening and culinary classes, as well as the integration of food-related education into the standards-based classroom curriculum. Farm to School includes all types of producers and food businesses including farmers, ranchers and fisherman as well as food processors, manufacturers and distributors.

Please take a moment to fill out this survey regarding your child’s knowledge of local food and farms and their current attitudes about fruits and vegetables. Your participation will help us gauge the value of this project. Thank you.
