Remote/Hybrid Survey - Commitment

Hello Dayton Pre-K-5 Families,

On Friday, the Maine Department of Education released its color coding for all counties in the state.  York County Categorization was "green" and suggested that the county has a relatively low risk of COVID-19 spread and that schools may consider in-person instruction, as long as they are able to implement the required health and safety measures. Schools in a "green" county may need to use hybrid instruction models if there is insufficient capacity or other factors (facilities, staffing, geography/transportation, etc.) that may prevent full implementation of the health and safety requirements.   As Kermit the Frog once said, "It's not easy being green!" Please see the framework for return guidelines from the Maine Department of Education.

Remote Instruction:  Families will have an option to enroll in remote instruction for their child(ren).  We are asking today for a commitment so that we can appropriately plan for the fall.  Once a student has been placed into the remote instruction, they will remain in this option until the end of each month.

Hybrid Option:  In our last survey, we asked families to choose which option they felt the most comfortable with this fall.  We have created a chart to help parents understand the difference between Option 1 and Option 2 (please know that each option can be altered to make appropriate adjustments). Hybrid Options Chart

Transportation: The school department needs to have a full understanding of students who will ride the bus each day.  Based on the guidance that we are being provided, it will be challenging to have more than 20-26 students on each bus.  Students will ride in a seat alone (unless paired with a household member).  The seat behind the driver will be left open.

To create bus runs that are the most efficient, we ask that you please inform us of your transportation needs.

Families working together:  As we look to build a daily schedule for your child based on which hybrid option the School Board selects, we understand that families may be working together on child care needs.  Please select up to two families that may be child care partners.  Please note: that we may not be able to meet all requests, but will use the information to help guide our placements.

Take Care, and I hope you join me tonight with questions about the start of the school year.

***Please complete a survey for each child in your household***
