Principal Researcher: Dr Sara Cicerale
Student Researcher:
Associate Researcher(s): Professor Russell Keast, Dr Gie Liem

Purpose

The aim of this study is to better understand Australian consumer attitudes and preferences for olive oil.
Method
Data will be collected via an online survey, which will collect demographic data and information relating to attitudes, preferences, behaviours, purchasing, usage and consumption of olive oil. The survey undertaken is expected to take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
You have the opportunity to go into the draw to win one of four Red Island Olive Oil packs. To do so, following the completion of the survey you will be asked to provide your email address so you can be contacted in the event you win a prize pack. The winners will be chosen by The Centre of Advanced Sensory Science at random. Once the data collection is complete and the winners chosen, all confidential participant information (i.e. email address) will be permanently removed.
By completing and submitting the questionnaire you are consenting to participate in this study. The ethical aspects of this study have been approved by a human ethics panel at Deakin University.
Following the survey, the data will be analysed and the general findings will be incorporated into research publications and or conference presentations.
Potential risks
There are no perceived risks to participating in this research.
Potential benefits
This research is important as it will generate findings which may help to inform future activities and marketing efforts designed to encourage the consumption of the healthful olive oil.
Privacy and confidentiality
The online survey will be made available via Survey Monkey. Any information obtained in connection with this study that can identify yourself will remain strictly confidential. Once the data collection is complete and the winners of the associated competition chosen, all confidential participant information (i.e.email address) will be permanently removed. Access to the data collected via the online survey will be password protected, with only the investigators having access to the password. Data collected will be stored for 6 years after the final publication of research outcomes and thereafter will be destroyed in a secure manner.
