2026 NWSA Annual Conference Proposal Review Committee |
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the National Women's Studies Association (NWSA)! We are seeking volunteers to assist with reviewing proposal submissions for our upcoming Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
The National Women’s Studies Association aims to facilitate a robust review process that draws on the interdisciplinary expertise across our field. The Proposal Review Committee is tasked with providing dynamic and generative feedback for all reviewed proposals and curating titles and abstracts for grouped papers that have been accepted in a way that’s attentive to the sub-themes. Therefore, we ask that active NWSA members who hold faculty positions or who have a minimum of 5 years experience in the field of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies volunteer their service.
Review Committee Objectives:
Under the leadership of the Executive Director and Governing Council, the Proposal Review Committee will:
- review proposals in line with the conference theme and sub-themes;
- coordinate Accept/Reject communications for proposal submissions;
- group individually submitted proposals into sessions;
- develop titles and abstracts for created sessions;
- assist with scheduling sessions;
- and recruit and assign moderators for grouped individual proposals.
The NWSA recognizes that such service entails dedicated time each month between April and June of each year. We ask Proposal Review Committee members to be available in March for training (1-1.5 hours, virtual) and one session (up to 5 hours, virtual) for final reviews and General Session creation.
During the 'training meeting', the National Office will review roles and expectations, confirm the time commitment, and discuss review parameters to ensure timely and ethical reviews.
