1. Nursing Explorers Camp - Is it for you?

Bon Secours Virginia's Nursing Explorers Camp is sure to be an exciting and exhilarating experience!

The health system's one-of-a-kind camp offers a unique experience to rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders interested in the wide world of medicine. The day camp gives participants real-life experiences in hospital environments as well as at our Bon Secours College of Nursing. This camp is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Activities include:
●learning CPR,
●dissecting pig’s hearts,
●suturing pig’s feet,
●starting IVs, and
●using various medical equipment (to include but not limited to stethoscopes, suture needles, blood pressure cuffs, etc.)

The camp will be held in Richmond from Aug. 5-9, 2013, at
●St. Mary's Hospital
●Memorial Regional Medical Center
●St. Francis Medical Center
●Richmond Community Hospital

The camp will be held in Hampton Roads from Aug. 12-16, 2013, at:
●Mary Immaculate Hospital
●Maryview Medical Center
●DePaul Medical Center

Camp will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The camp fee is $100 and is due upon acceptance. The fee includes lunch, snacks and supplies.

All campers are required to have a TB test administered by their physician prior to attending camp.

For those of you who are interested in nursing or other medical professions, who want to live a few days in their shoes and who are willing to dive in, this hands-on, highly educational camp may be a first step toward a health care career.
