Birth Control and Blood Clots Study Phase 2: Introduction

Lucine Health Sciences via Hormones Matter is conducting research on the risks for blood clots when using hormonal contraceptives. Blood clots are a serious complication of hormonal contraceptive use and can be disabling or even fatal. The results from this study will be used to help inform women about their personal level of risk, and factors affecting it, when using hormonal contraceptives.

As part of this study, women who have NEVER used hormonal contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) of any sort. Hormonal contraception includes birth control pills, patches and vaginal rings, as well as Depo-Provera injections and implants. This phase of the research involves completing an anonymous online survey. HRT includes both synthetic or bio-identical hormones for the treatment of menopausal symptoms.
