The Networkship@HSBC is a program brought to you by amazing.community with the generous support of a grant from HSBC and technology support by TenThousandCoffees. The aim is to provide women 45+ with knowledge, career mentoring support, and network to explore job opportunities in financial industry.
If you are considering a pivot, exploring new sectors to pursue, always was intrigued by financial industry but didn’t think you might be able to find something suitable, this might be a great opportunity for you. Financial institutions, like HSBC, have a variety of roles and interesting opportunities where prior experience is not critical, and we have the real examples of women who’ve pivoted successfully to tell their stories. Through four group sessions and four 1:1 mentoring conversations over the duration of the program you will have the opportunity to be exposed to different aspects of financial institutions, get personal coaching, expand your network, and get actionable feedback on your resume and practice your interviewing skills. Our ultimate aim is to support you in making informed decision should you wish to pursue a job in financial industry. The following is the high level overview of the program and timeline:
Apr 1st: application period closes
By Apr 8: we will notify the participants accepted into the program (if not done earlier)
Apr 22: Group session: Program Welcome and Structure + Financial industry overview (12:00 PM ET, 90 min, virtual via zoom)
Week of Apr 25: 1:1 Mentor & mentee meeting (60 min, virtual)
May 6: “Group Session "A day in the life of” with 2-3 panelists describing the essence of their jobs and skills needed (12:00PM ET, 90 min, virtual via zoom)
Week of May 9: 1:1 Mentor&mentee meeting (60 min, virtual)
May 20: Group Session "My Journey back” with 2-3 panelists from HSBC describing their pivot stories (12:00PM ET, 90 min, virtual via zoom)
Week of May 23: 1:1 Mentor&mentee (60 min, virtual)
Week of May 30: Mentor&mentee meeting (60 min, virtual)
Jun 3rd: Group session "Building Bridges” (resume review, practice interviewing with HSBC HR practitioners) + Graduation celebration and networking (10:00AM ET, 4 hours, in person if circumstances allow)
The mentors and panelists are current employees of HSBCs with management experience and personal stories of pivot. The matching of mentors and mentees will be done by the technical platform - TenThousandCoffees - we will use throughout the program based on common professional and career interests.
