Community Sentiment Survey

Purpose of Survey

As we commence planning for Australia Day celebrations in 2023, we want to hear from you on the best way to celebrate the wonderful people in our region and the communities that we live in.
This is your opportunity to share your ideas, vision, thoughts, likes and dislikes and shape the way we celebrate Australia Day into the future.

Your valuable feedback will be used to assist Council in understanding our North Burnett community views towards Australia Day and will influence our planning and decision-making on Australia Day awards and events in 2023 and beyond.
In January 2022, Council made the difficult decision to cancel all 2022 Australia Day events on Wednesday, 26 January 2022. This decision was made after completing an extensive risk assessment due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in the region and state. It was determined that the risk to community members, award recipients, and Council Staff was too great for events to proceed as planned.

Our Australia Day Awards Ceremony was rescheduled to Saturday 5 March in Mt Perry. Council was mindful that the COVID pandemic and omicron cases were still present in the community and in the interest of public safety, the event was limited to award recipients and one guest only rather then being open to all community members.

The event was live-streamed (video) to allow communities across the North Burnett to watch the award ceremony online.

Given the disruption to our events in 2022, it is timely for Council to seek feedback from our community on Australia Day award ceremonies and events into the future.
