Title: The current level of knowledge of and attitudes toward evidence-informed clinical practice among doctors of chiropractic: a national online survey

Who is performing this survey?

This survey is being conducted in collaboration with the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), McGill University, and the University of Pittsburgh in conjunction with the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) and Canadian Chiropractic Guideline Initiative (CCGI). The purpose of this study is to investigate chiropractors use, opinion, skills, and training toward evidence-informed clinical practice.

Study Procedures

You will be asked to complete a survey, which is 57 questions long and will take about 15-20 minutes. The survey includes questions about your attitudes and use of evidence-informed practices. Please note that for the purposes of this study that the terms ‘evidence-informed’ and ‘evidence-based’ may be used interchangeably. We will also ask for some demographic information (i.e. age, sex, years in practice, practice setting) so we can accurately describe the general traits of the study respondents. No identifiable information will be collected with this survey.

After you complete the questionnaire we will record your responses, report descriptive statistics, and submit the findings for research publication.

Who is eligible to take part in this study?

All licensed chiropractors in Canada with an active email address. All e-mail addresses are kept by the CCA.

What happens to information collected for this study?

The results of the study will be used for scholarly purposes only. Information collected from the survey will be reported in a scientific publication, known as a peer reviewed journal.

May I withdraw from the study?

Yes, you are completely free to decide not to continue with this survey

Are there any benefits or risks involved with this study?

No foreseeable benefits or risks are associated with participation in the survey.

Is there any compensation for participating in this survey?

Your participation is voluntary. You are free to withdraw your participation from this study at any time.  Those who complete the survey can enter their e-mail address to be eligible to win one of 25 gift certificates valued at $100.00 CDN each.

Confidentiality

All personal health information will be kept confidential, unless release is required by law.  No identifying information will be reported in any publications, reports or presentations.

Statement of Consent

I understand my participation in this research study is completely voluntary and I am free to withdrawal from the study at any time.
