Introduction

Thank you for your interest in joining Dementia Australia's National Dementia Consumer Network (Consumer Network).
 
The Consumer Network was established to encourage the involvement of as many consumers as possible in the work of the organisation.  It aims to empower consumers to drive change across national dementia policy, programs and research.  

Ways you could get involved and receive information about can include:

• Sharing your personal story
• Providing feedback on Dementia Australia policy work, including submissions to Government
• Providing feedback on resources and publications
• Setting priorities in advocacy and research work
• Involvement in research activities
• Information about events
• Participation in media opportunities
• Involvement in advisory committees, steering groups, and Government forums
 
Membership of the Consumer Network is open to all people living with dementia, their family and unpaid carers (past or current) from across the country.  Dementia Australia welcomes and encourages members from diverse backgrounds and groups including; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with younger onset dementia, people in rural and remote areas, people at risk of homelessness, people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or intersex, and people with dementia who live alone. 
 
You do not need any previous experience to join the Consumer Network, just a willingness to help improve outcomes for people with dementia, carers and families.
 
Dementia Australia would like to ask you some questions to get to know you further and your areas of interest. There is a total of six questions in the form. All information collected is confidential, securely stored and only accessible by the appropriate staff members.
