1. Welcome and Informed Consent

Dear Mothers,

Thank you for your interest in this study!

My name is Jennifer Keeling and I am a Master's degree candidate in the Infant Mental Health program at Mills College in Oakland, California. I am conducting a research study exploring mothers' lives, parenting experiences, and perceptions of the mother-child relationship as a part of my degree program. This research is important because it will deepen our understanding of the mother-child relationship and will contribute to the development of more effective community resources for mothers of young children. This project is being supervised by Dr. Carol George, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Mills College.

Participation in this study is voluntary and anonymous. Any information you provide will remain confidential, you will never be identified by name, and you may withdraw from the study at any time. To participate, you must be the mother of a child under 3 years of age. All you need to do is complete the online questionnaires regarding your life experiences and perceptions of parenting.

The questionnaire takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. Please note that you cannot save your answers and finish the survey at a later time so make sure you have enough time to complete the survey in one sitting. Participants who complete the entire survey can enter a drawing to win one of two $100 Visa gift cards.

If you are interested in the general results of this study upon its completion or have any questions or concerns, please contact me at jkeeling@mills.edu or my supervising professor at Mills College, Dr. Carol George at george@mills.edu.

Thank you so much for participating!
