Merrimack River User Survey 2025: 5-Year Update

In 2020-2021, the Alliance of Climate and Environmental Stewards (ACES) conducted an opinion survey of MA and NH Merrimack River “Users” to determine how they felt about the health and condition of their river. Their responses and narrative insights were alarming. Over the past 5 years, the Merrimack Watershed has experienced extremely dry and wet years as well as the 5 hottest years on record globally. ACES feels that now is a good time to revisit river user concerns.

The 2025 Merrimack River User Survey will reassess user concerns about the river’s condition, allowing for a comprehensive five-year update that highlights changing trends, environmental changes, and public perception. Your responses will empower fellow residents, policymakers, and environmental advocates with the knowledge needed to protect and improve the Merrimack River. Your participation in this survey is crucial to shaping the future of one of our region's most vital natural resources.
