To be nominated, the individual must meet certain criteria. The individual may come from any facet of the industry covering, Organisers, Service providers, Venues or Destination Bureaux.
Nominees can include those making significant contributions to the knowledge and literature of the business events industry, the design or creation of equipment, processes, technical services, sustainable initiatives, promotion of the sector, or those supporting the recognition of business events to governments and key stakeholders.
Criteria:
- The nominee must be a business owner, director, representative or employee of a member of the Australian Business Events Association (or one of its preceding foundation organisations) for a minimum of three years.
- Nominations for Life Members can be made by the Board of Directors, as recommended by the secretariat, or by any Member of the Australian Business Events Association.
- Nominations are considered by the ABEA Board of Directors and approved or rejected in confidence. No justification will be required to be given by the Board.
- The successful nominee will receive Individual Life Membership.
- The award does not have to be given annually if no suitable nominations are received.
- Under exceptional circumstances more than one award can be made annually, however the Board is encouraged to limit Life Membership to maintain the prestige of the award. It is not uncommon for many years to pass between individuals receiving awards.
- Requests for nominations are not invited. The secretariat will respond to those interested with this overview.
- Nominations must be submitted a minimum of seven business days prior to the last Board meeting prior to the annual awards evening (November 12).
