Are you a student, practitioner or faculty member within Psychology, Social Work or Counselling?

You are invited to participate in a study looking at attitudes toward sexual and gender minority groups. If you are under the age of eighteen, you may not participate in this study.

Participation in the study will involve supplying your responses to a series of online questions. You will also be asked to respond to some basic, non-identifying information about yourself. The completion of the questionnaires should take approximately 10 minutes.

Minimal risk is associated with participation in this study; however, some questions could create some discomfort. Please refer to the list of counseling/support services at the end of this questionnaire should you wish to seek assistance. Participation is completely voluntary and you are free to either complete the questionnaire or not. It is not anticipated that participants will experience either harm or direct benefits. However, we hope that you will personally benefit from being involved in this research, in contributing to our greater understanding of attitudes toward same-sex families and transgender individuals. Upon request, you can receive a summary of the collated results.

The questionnaire is anonymous. Do not include your name in any space provided. The researcher will take every care to remove responses from any identifying material as early as possible. Likewise individuals’ responses will be kept anonymous by the researcher and not be identified in the reporting of the research. However, the researcher cannot guarantee the anonymity of material transferred by email or the internet. Survey results will be stored on the survey platform, where the researcher will have access to the data, but will not be able to identify participants. Once data collection is complete and exported, it will be stored on a password-protected UniSA computer server, and removed off the online survey platform. The data will be stored for 5 years and only the primary researcher and supervisor will have access to the data. Approximately 400-500 participants will be recruited for this study. The data may also be used to establish a database for future research; however, further ethics approval will be sought for this. Selecting ‘I consent to participate’ on the bottom of the page will be considered your permission to use the data for extended purposes.
