About Modern Apprenticeships

A Modern Apprenticeship is a structured programme designed to take learners through the skills and competencies that they need to perform a job well. Modern Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 or over.

Along the way there will be objectives and goals to achieve, ensuring they are learning, progressing and being supported by their employer at each stage.

The apprentice will be based at their place of work most of the time, and take part in off-the- job training to achieve the agreed outcomes and qualification set out by the apprenticeship framework.

Off-the-job training will usually take place at a local college or with a specialist training provider on a day- release basis once a week or a number of days in a block.
