Hello!  I have been an Isla Vista Food Co-op member since 1994 and have served on the Board of Directors since 2003.  I currently serve as the President of the Board.  I believe in the good works co-ops can do in their local circles and in the power of being an economic alternative.  I want to continue to engage with and grow our membership to enrich who we are as a cooperative — and what we can do for our members.  Last year the Board laid out the 2 year planning vision for the co-op with the Strategic Priorities.

This year we are working on updating our Articles of Incorporation and co-op Bylaws as well as continuing to focus on our membership and serving our community.  I am interested in staying on for another term of strengthening and positioning our co-op for the next great opportunity.  I ask for your vote of support to continue this work.  Thank you!

As a dedicated member and employee of the I.V. Food Co-op, I would be honored to contribute to the future of the co-op by joining the Board of Directors. I have held the position of Store Manager for two years and am now excited to transition into my new position as the Human Resources Manager. My past career experience in the co-operative movement, along with my depth and breadth of knowledge of this particular co-operative makes me uniquely qualified to serve on this board.

I started my career in co-operatives at the California Center for Cooperative Development (CCCD). My time at CCCD exposed me to the positive impact that the co-operative business model can bring to communities. I then spent over two years working for CoFED, an organization that helps college students source quality food for student-run cafes.

In 2016, I joined the Isla Vista Food Co-op management team and am proud to have been able to integrate my holistic management style and passion for co-operatives into the way this  co-operative does business. I feel deeply invested in the community of Isla Vista and want to help perpetuate the co-op's tradition of leadership and community engagement in an impactful way.

I believe that by serving on the board, I will bring a valuable perspective as a staff person who has been intensely involved in the operations and team development of the co-op over the past two years. Thank you for considering my candidacy for the I.V. Food Co-op Board of Directors.

Hi there! My name is Miles. I’m the Grocery Manager at the Isla Vista Food Co-op and I have worked here for 8 years and for 6 of those years I’ve had the pleasure of calling Isla Vista my home. In my spare time I enjoy practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, playing the mandolin, making knives and cuddling my kittens.

In this era of giant grocery corporations controlling the market, I feel there is no better time to become even more active by joining the board and affecting positive change at the highest level of a democratically run food justice system. I believe that by utilizing the cooperative principles we can show this generation and those to come how and why it is imperative to support your local economy and to shop in an intentional way. Remember, in the great words of Joe Rogan “we are just a bunch of talking monkeys on an organic spaceship flying through the universe.” Let’s help each other out.
