As proud members of Queensland’s independent dance community, Phluxus2 Dance Collective know it is vital for artists to collaborate, investigate and challenge practice. Six years after the inaugural indepenDANCE project we are thrilled to announce the 2019 round of applications.
This year we are excited to continue to work with two of Brisbane's most exciting arts organisations – Mad Dance House as our creative development partner and The Tivoli as our performance partner. Commencing 27th November to 19th December 2019, we are thrilled to germinate new work, new ideas and new collaborations.
indepenDANCE will offer up to six choreographers, dancers and other creatives access to space, equipment and daily training to create, explore, share, shatter and collaborate on new work in a creative development intensive, culminating in an open studio showing of their discoveries.
IndepenDANCE challenges artists to think outside the square, shatter the square and question if the square is a square at all. We will be looking for ideas that stand out from the crowd, that take risk and offer unique vision.
IndepenDANCE provides a platform for dance artists to engage in new ideas and conversations, break boundaries and assist in strengthening the independent dance community.
IndepenDANCE will also provide training and mentoring opportunities with leading artists such as Nerida Matthaei in the creation of their new work and questioning of the artistic process.
