1. Introduction

Welcome to the ICPIC2019 Scientific Quiz ! Multiple choice questions have been prepared by the different speakers and only concern material presented in ICPIC. This is a research project being conducted by Dr. Romain Martischang, Dr. Mohamed Abbas and Prof. Didier Pittet (thereafter called the “organizing committee”), from the Infection Control Programme, University of Geneva Hospitals.

It should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE ? 
All registered attendees to ICPIC 2019 can participate in the quiz. Participants whose name does not appear on the list of registered attendants will be automatically disqualified. Patients also are welcome to participate !

OBJECTIVE
This quiz offers a chance for participants to evaluate their general knowledge on the hottest IPC topics presented in this conference. 

HOW TO
  • The quiz will be opened from Wednesday 11 September at 17:30 to Friday 13 September at 11:00. Any quiz completed after that time will not be taken into account.
  • Only 1 attempt at completing the quiz per participant is accepted. In case a participant has completed the quiz more than 1 time, the participant will be disqualified.
  • Try to complete all the questions. There will be no point(s) deducted for wrong answers. There is one correct answer per question. The final score will be the number of correct answers. Questions with more than one correct answers will be notified.

QUIZZ AWARD
Results from the quiz will be revealed and prizes will be received during the closing ceremony, Friday 13 September from 13:00 to 13:30. The 5 participants with the highest score will receive a free copy of the textbook “Hand Hygiene: A Handbook for Medical Professionals” edited by Didier Pittet, John Boyce, Benedetta Allegranzi. In case of a tie including more than the top 10 finalists, the final winners will be drawn by lottery. In the event that a winner is not unable to attend the ceremony, the prize will be sent by post.

PARTICIPATION
Your participation in this quiz is voluntary. You may refuse to take part in the research or exit the quiz at any time without penalty. You are free to decline to answer any particular question you do not wish to answer for any reason. 

AWARD
Other than that, you will receive no direct benefits from participating in this research study. However, your responses may help us learn more about the ICPIC attendees as well as the level of knowledge retention, contributing to evaluating the scientific quality of IPCIC. The decision of organizing committee of the quiz as to the winners is final and no appeal will be accepted. Individuals who have contributed to the creation of the quiz (including the questions) are not eligible for participation.

RISKS
There are no foreseeable risks involved in participating in this study other than those encountered in day-to-day life.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Your survey answers will be sent to a link at SurveyMonkey.com where data will be stored in a password protected electronic format. Survey Monkey does not collect identifying information such as your name, email address, or IP address. No one other than the organizing committee will be able to identify you or your answers, or if you participated in the study. To enter the competition, you will need to provide contact information such as your name and email address ; therefore, your survey responses will not be anonymous to the researchers. However, no names or identifying information would be included in any publications or presentations based on these data, and your responses to this survey will remain confidential.

The decision of the organizing committee with regard to interpretation of rules and regulations will be final and binding. In addition, the organizing committee reserves the right to change these rules and regulations at their sole discretion should this become necessary.
