Introduction

The IAPH Technical Committee on Climate and Energy is undertaking this global port survey to identify the restrictions that are currently applied in the use of EGCS / scrubbers by vessels while sailing in port and/or national waters in different parts of the world. The focus is placed in particular on the operation of the so-called open loop EGCS/scrubbers, that release wastewater while in operation.

The survey outcomes will provide IAPH with accurate and up-to-date information on the subject, to feed the forthcoming discussions at the IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC). Furthermore, the IAPH Technical Committee on Climate and Energy will be analyzing the outcomes in order to identify potential areas for follow-up work. A summary report will be produced and disseminated to all survey respondents.
