Background and Objective

In July 2020, the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) came into force. IA-CEPA includes a Memorandum of Understanding which established the Indonesia-Australia Skills Development Exchange (SDE) Pilot Project. The primary objective of the SDE Pilot is to enable appropriately skilled individuals to travel between Australia and Indonesia to undertake six-month workplace placements for the purposes of skills training with businesses or other organisations in specified sectors.

A summary and some fact sheets on the Indonesia-Australia Skills Development Exchange Pilot Project can be found here.

The goal of this survey is to gather information and opinions about the SDE Pilot. The information gathered here will be used in a review of the SDE Pilot which is planned for 2023. Your feedback will help us to improve the SDE Pilot for businesses and individuals in both Australia and Indonesia.

At the end of the survey, we will also ask Australian participants about a similar program – the IA-CEPA Workplace-Based Skills Training Pilot (visa subclass 407). If you have sponsored an Indonesian to undertake skills development and training in your workplace, or you are interested to find out more, we’d love to hear from you. More information about the Workplace-Based Training Pilot can be found here.
